Lực lượng Vệ binh Cách mạng Hồi giáo Iran (IRGC) hôm 19/6 xác nhận đã lần đầu sử dụng tên lửa đạn đạo tầm trung (MRBM) Sejjil trong chiến dịch tấn công mang tên “Lời hứa chân thật 3” nhằm vào lãnh thổ Israel. Đây là tên lửa đẩy bằng nhiên liệu rắn, hai tầng, được đánh giá là một trong những loại vũ khí hiện đại nhất trong kho vũ khí chiến lược của Iran.

Động thái này được giới phân tích quân sự Iran đánh giá là bước ngoặt trong học thuyết quân sự của Tehran: từ răn đe mang tính biểu tượng chuyển sang đáp trả thực chiến bằng các vũ khí thế hệ mới có độ chính xác cao, theo trang Defense Security Asia.
Tính cơ động cao, khó bị phát hiện
Tên lửa Sejjil dài khoảng 18 mét, nặng từ 22 đến 24 tấn – nặng nhất trong số các tên lửa được Iran sử dụng để tấn công Israel cho đến nay. Tên lửa sử dụng nhiên liệu rắn giúp rút ngắn thời gian chuẩn bị phóng so với các dòng tên lửa nhiên liệu lỏng trước đây như Shahab. Việc này cho phép tăng khả năng cơ động và giảm nguy cơ bị đối phương phát hiện trước khi phóng.
Tên lửa có tầm bắn tối đa lên tới 2.500 km, giúp Iran có thể phóng từ sâu bên trong lãnh thổ nhưng vẫn bao phủ toàn bộ Israel. Ngoài ra, tầm bắn này cũng cho phép Iran nhắm tới các căn cứ Mỹ ở bán đảo Ả Rập, đảo Cyprus, và thậm chí một phần Nam Âu.
Sejjil có thể mang đầu đạn nặng tới 650 kg, bao gồm cả đầu đạn thông thường và phi truyền thống. Có thông tin tên lửa cũng có thể mang đầu đạn nặng 1.500 kg nhưng tầm bắn sẽ giảm đi đáng kể.
Tên lửa có hệ thống dẫn đường GPS kết hợp điều hướng quán tính, độ chính xác được ước tính dưới 100 mét – đủ sức tấn công các mục tiêu chiến lược có giá trị cao.
